Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is the most frequently encountered scale in industrial reverse osmosis (RO) systems. The Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) has traditionally been used to predict antiscalant limits to inhibiting CaCO3 scaling, but has been highly unreliable.
