Safety and Handling

May be toxic by ingestion. Contact with eyes causes severe irritation or burns and irreversible eye damage. For more information, see the Safety Data Sheet provided with this product.

Chemical Feeding and Control

May be used to control bacteria and reduce biofouling in industrial membrane systems (reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, microfiltration) and peripheral equipment. It should be added to the system inlet water or before any other contamination area ahead of the reverse osmosis unit. AWC D-405D should be added with a metering pump on an intermittent basis depending on the severity of contamination and the guidelines specified by the membrane manufacturer.

Cleaning Fouled Membranes: For off-line system disinfection, add 0.1 – 0.2% w/w solution of AWC D-405D to the off-line cleaning feed tank and re-circulate for 3 – 6 hours. Frequency of addition should be every 5 days or as needed.

Prevention of Mirobial fouling: For non-potable applications, may be fed continuously to the membrane system feed water at the rate of 4 to 480 ppm for 4 – 6 hours per day. Once treatment is completed, rinsing with feed-water should continue until conductivity values in the permeate are at or below values before treatment with this product. Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment is begun.

Note: for industrial systems in which this product residuals cannot be tolerated, AWC D-405D must be slug fed. During and for 30 minutes to 1 hour following chemical addition, permeate and concentrate streams must be diverted to waste.

Membrane Storage: Suitable for the long-term storage of membranes. The treatment level is dependent on the expected storage life. Storage and application equipment should be made of Stainless Steel (304, 316), Aluminum, Brass, Carbon Steel, Neoprene, Nickel, PU or Plasite 7122. Do not use EDPM or Plasite 4005 in contact with the neat product.
